The Venture Center Library recently organized a valuable session for parents on child safety, led by Neha Pradhan Arora from the Mudita Foundation. This session was held as part of Daan Utsav (Joy of Giving Week) in collaboration with Mudita Foundation.
Recent statistics reveal that over 90% of Indian children experience some form of abuse before the age of 18. The Mudita Foundation is dedicated to building a safer world where children are protected from all forms of violence.
The session was highly engaging and informative, incorporating interactive activities and practical examples from everyday life.
Here is a summary of key Do’s and Don’ts for parents and caregivers:
DOs:
- Stay actively involved in your child’s life by engaging in regular conversations about their routines, friendships, and activities.
- Be attentive to any changes in behavior, and discuss personal boundaries and safety in an age-appropriate manner.
- Position yourself as a trusted adult, listening carefully to both what children express and what they may withhold.
DON’Ts:
- Do not force children to show physical affection or dismiss their concerns.
- Avoid approaching conversations with distrust or disregarding their worries.
- Refrain from avoiding uncomfortable questions or dismissing new information they share.
Thank you Neha for the wonderful session and thank you to everyone who attended.
